PETITION CALLING ON THE US GOVERNMENT TO APPEAL AGAINST ETHIOPIA’S UNJUSTIFIED PLEA FOR INCLUSION IN AGOA

First, I would like to express my sincere and strong appreciation to the U.S government for understanding the plight of the people of Tigray; and for firmly standing against perpetrators of catastrophic war and humanitarian crisis. Since November 2020, Tigrayans have written several letters, appealing to the U.S government to take concrete actions to end the genocidal war on Tigray and hold perpetrators accountable for their barbaric and untold crimes committed against the innocent people of Tigray. In connection to this, I take this opportunity to commend the government of the United States for terminating Ethiopia from AGOA as of November 2, 2021.

Now, I have learned that the government of Ethiopia and a U.S. based business organization have written a letter to plead and lobby the government of United States to reconsider its decision. I found the plea and lobbying efforts of the Ethiopian government to be shameful, insensitive, and wicked and thus, deserve an outright rejection because the plea is no less than asking the government of United States to collaborate and partner in crimes of genocide, a crime of war, crime against humanity and crime of aggression.
